Environmetal Education\Kitchen Garden
Preston East Primary School opened an Environmental Garden Area in mid 2004. This area comprises a chook shed and run,
composting bays, raised garden beds, table & seating and tool shed. Children attend our “kitchen garden” in class
groups to participate in the hands-on learning experience of organic
gardening. We have also established a
line of hazelnut trees and a citrus and olive grove which is supported by a
large water tank. We plan also to
develop our indigenous plantings, to increase the biodiversity in our school
grounds.
Preston East Primary School has an active policy to encourage children to become
environmentally aware and responsible citizens of the 21st
Century. We encourage all families to
become involved with these projects.
